Coronavirus: Patient dies in Hong Kong

The balance sheet continues to climb. A 39-year-old Hong Kong man infected with the new coronavirus became the first person to die of this viral epidemic in the megalopolis on Tuesday and the second outside of mainland China. He had gone to Wuhan city in January, before returning to the semi-autonomous territory on January 23 on an express train. Many Hong Kong media, citing medical sources, however claimed that the victim suffered from health problems which complicated his treatment. Sanofi facing justice. The pharmaceutical group announced Monday evening its indictment for "aggravated deception" and "unintentional injuries" in the case of the marketing of the reference anti-epileptic Depakine, an investigation opened in September 2016. The molecule in question, sodium valproate, has been marketed since 1967 under the brand name Depakine by Sanofi, but also under generic brands, and is prescribed for people suffering from bipolar disorder, but presents a high risk of birth defects on the fetus if it is taken by a pregnant woman.

Democratic primary: Great confusion in Iowa, where results are long overdue

It's the grand bazaar in Iowa. At midnight (7:00 am Paris time), the results of the first election for the Democratic primary were still pending. The Democratic Party explained that the delay was due to checks after finding "irregularities". Suddenly, the candidates launched into speeches without knowing the results of an evening which seemed to turn to the advantage of Bernie Sanders and Pete Buttigieg, with a Joe Biden undoubtedly outdistanced. The results may not be known until morning.
