The death toll from the recent corona virus that has killed 425 people has exceeded the number of deaths from the SARS virus in mainland China, as the Chinese government on Monday recognized "movement" shortcomings, noting that it "urgently" needs protective masks as a measure to contain the spread of the epidemic.

The number of confirmed deaths in China from the new Corona virus has risen to 425, after authorities in Hubei Province announced Tuesday that 64 additional deaths had been recorded.

The county health committee also said there was a sharp increase in the number of people infected with the virus, with 3,235 confirmed new infections.

According to the statistics of the central government, there are a total of 20,400 injuries inside Chinese territory.

Ten days after the start of the crisis that led to the imposition of a quarantine on central China's Hubei Province and the city of Wuhan, the epicenter of the virus, Chinese financial markets returned to business Monday, recording losses of about 8% on the Shanghai and Shenzhen exchanges.

While the country is dominated by fear of the virus, Beijing has recognized "deficiencies" in its response, admitting that, as usual, it is counting on the rest of the world to cope with the crisis.

"What China urgently needs is medical masks, uniforms and goggles," Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Xunyang told a press conference.

It reported that several countries, including France, the United Kingdom, Japan and South Korea, have sent medical supplies.

The Ministry of Industry stated that the country is seeking to import its needs from Europe, Japan and the United States.
