The epidemic of gastroenteritis is tough in oysters from Loire-Atlantique. After a first restriction of the fishing zones at the beginning of January, as in many zones of the West of France, the prefect of the department has again just taken a decree aiming to prohibit "fishing by hobby and professional, collecting , transport, storage and marketing of shellfish, intended for human consumption, from La Bernerie-en-Retz and Moutiers-en-Retz. The affected areas are the Pen Bé traffic between Assérac and Mesquer and the Croisic traffic between La Turballe and Le Croisic.
Norovirus detected, also in Vendée
According to the prefecture, "cases of collective food poisoning" have indeed been reported again, by consumers affected by digestive disorders. Noroviruses, responsible for these symptoms, "are not destroyed by simple domestic cooking", recalls the prefecture. Seashell reminders have also been decided.
The same phenomenon was described a few days ago in Vendée, a department hitherto spared. The prefect also signed a decree relating to Bourgneuf bay, which could however be lifted in the coming days.
