An American family decided to sue American Airlines, after its employees forced them to leave their plane, under the pretext of "smelling their bodies."

Yehuda Yusuf Adler and his wife, Jenny, were forced by their young daughter to leave the plane that was going to Detroit in January.

The family says that company employees have commented on their Jewish faith.

But the company says its decision has nothing to do with religion, but rather depends on other customers complaining of an odor from Adler.

The lawsuit, filed in Texas, included charges of defamation, causing psychological pressure, and discrimination on the basis of religion.

Adler said that it was not five minutes before his family sat in the plane until one of the employees asked them to leave the plane due to an emergency.

He added that after leaving the plane, the employee told him the pilot decided to take them down because of the smell of their bodies.

In the lawsuit, the employee’s comment included “insulting and disrespecting,” he told the family that he knew of the Orthodox Jews that they only washed once a week.

The family says they asked about twenty people from the plane, and no one noticed an unpleasant smell.

The family got a hotel room with meals, and they also got seats on another flight the next morning, but without the family's suitcases that remained on the plane they left.

In a statement to "Fox News" channel, the airline said that it asked the family to leave the plane after complaints about the smell of Alder's body mentioned by a number of passengers and crew members, and the decision was taken out of concern for the comfort of our passengers.

The company confirmed that the decision had nothing to do with "Adler's religion."
