Hardly installed and already lead in the wing: for ten days, the tension has not dropped around the continuous control tests of the new ferry wanted by Jean-Michel Blanquer, with dozens of establishments blocked every day. These history-geo, modern languages and mathematics tests for the technological pathway, kicked off the new formula bac and run until March for the students of Première. They are divided into three sessions over the first and final years and account for 30% of the final grade.

From the start, unions, teachers and high school students have been calling for various actions to “block” this new bin, which will create inequalities, they say. This threat resulted from its kick-off, by the blocking of dozens of establishments in France and overseas, and by the postponement of tests in 70 to 130 high schools according to sources, out of 1,600 public high schools in total.

Mutanic blanquer

The Minister of Education, silent on the last days, had assured on January 21 that these tests, called "E3C" in the jargon, took place "in the vast majority of cases with confidence". On the ground this week the disturbances continued. In Rennes on Thursday, the firefighters and firefighters had to intervene to put out the start of a fire in a high school where 350 students were taking tests.

Tensions crystallize on the form of these tests: students but also teachers, parents and principals denounce the combination of continuous assessment and classic baccalaureate which is ultimately not suitable for anyone. "We ask for a pure and hard continuous control, taking into account the report cards, with also a maintenance of final tests spread over the years of first and terminal, but reduced", explains Philippe Vincent, at the head of SNPDEN (first syndicate of principals).

A monitoring committee

He points out "the too heavy format" of the first continuous control tests of the moment, which are done in a "too strict framework - with individual summons for example - and which are incompatible with the proper functioning of the establishments". The first secondary school union Snes-FSU is standing up against continuous assessment and considers that it is urgent to return to final exams at the end of the year, which "guarantee students the conditions of a national bac, guarantor equality before the exam, "he wrote in a statement.

At the Ministry, the monitoring committee for the new bac, meeting on Wednesday, will take stock of this first session in March. According to one of its members, it should offer to significantly reduce their organization for the second session of tests which starts at the end of April.
