The new emoji keyboard contains the 65 new icons, or a total of 117 with the various skin tones included, according to industry organization Unicode.

The keyboard includes, among other things, the trans flag and gender-neutral variants of former emojis such as a bride, a person in a coat, and Santa.

An emoji that has already become popular is the accordion. American musician and satirist "Weird Al" Yankovic writes on Instagram that he is aware that terrible things are happening in the world "but can we all take a minute and appreciate the fact that there is finally an accordion emoji".

According to the organization, the new icons have been developed according to proposals they have received and have since been selected based on various factors. According to the guidelines, there should, among other things, be a belief that many will use it, that it is innovative or has a symbolic meaning.

According to the Emojipedia blog, the updates will be available after the summer: in August for Android users and in October or November for iOS users.
