Former employee of Ota Ward in Tokyo arrested for welfare expenses and arrested January 30 at 12:20

A former employee in Ota-ku, Tokyo, was arrested for withdrawing more than ¥ 80,000 from a welfare recipient's account and getting dressed.

Former Ota Ward Welfare Department employee Takumi Samejima, 29, was arrested.

According to the Metropolitan Police Department, a former employee Samejima withdrew 85,000 yen from the account of an 83-year-old man who had received a welfare program in December, and was suspected of embezzlement in business on account of having dressed.

He was managing a bankbook and cash card as a case worker.

A ward was contacted by a nursing home in Gunma Prefecture where a man had entered the facility, and a fee had not been paid.

He acknowledged the investigation and admitted "I did it for debt repayment."

The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating suspected other charges for men's welfare.

Ota Ward said, "I am deeply apologized to the fact that the staff in charge of supporting the inhabitants of a ward has caused a scandal that should not have occurred. We will take measures to prevent recurrence and will do our utmost to restore trust." And commented.
