An "epic and intimate portrait" of the stateswoman. The biopic dedicated to Simone Veil will be titled Simone, the journey of the century. Directed by Olivier Dahan, the film "will retrace all of its exceptional destiny through the twentieth century", and will not focus like the TV movie La Loi, masterfully portrayed by Emmanuelle Devos in 2014, on a particular episode in life of the stateswoman, who died in 2017.

The feature film aims to relate "the fate of Simone Veil, her childhood, her political battles, her tragedies", of "a woman with an extraordinary journey who shook her era by defending a humanist message always 'a burning news,' says the synopsis.

Elsa Zylberstein in the title role

We already knew, Elsa Zylberstein will have the difficult task of playing Simone Veil. In the casting, Sylvie Testud, Elodie Bouchez, Rebecca Marder, Olivier Gourmet, Philippe Torreton and Philippe Lellouche join the headliner. The film will be directed by Olivier Dahan, to whom we owe La Môme's acclaim in 2007 with Marion Cotillard in the role of Edith Piaf, and the conspirator Grace of Monaco in 2014, with Nicole Kidman.

Let us hope that the film on the icon of the fight for women's rights which enabled French women to obtain access to abortion in 1975 has the same success as La Môme in the United States, where anti-abortion laws multiply. Simone, The Journey of the Century will hit theaters on March 10, 2021, two days after International Women's Rights Day.
