Our country concluded another honorable participation in the World Economic Forum in Davos. Among the echoes of this participation is the "Global Programmer Initiative", which received international acclaim and praise, given its relevance to a topic of the hour in the digital file, which is the future of professions or jobs.

The initiative is not the first of its kind for our country, but one of a series of initiatives that the world has been accustomed to since the establishment of the UAE until now, but I found the initiative appropriate to talk about an issue that has become inherent in any talk about new technologies, which is the acquisition of technology on human jobs, and what a person can do ? It is no coincidence that data is a major player in the human career.

The scarcity of competencies in technical fields is not a recent thing, but it is inherent in the evolution of human life. With every development in the lifestyle, a gradual gap in skills occurs between what the labor market needs and what universities bring out, and in "data moments" I wanted to inform you about two statistics that affect the professional future for all Whether it is currently working, or the most important segment in building the future, which is the cadres based on education from university professors, our children, and young people in general, to prepare them for the future job market.

The first statistic is a report on trends in capacity development in the work environment for 2020 issued by udemy, one of the most prominent training and education platforms via the Internet, and the second statistic is a report issued by the "McKinsey and Company" Institute entitled: "Jobs lost and others gained: What does the future mean for jobs and skills?" And wages? ”

In the first report, we conclude that the method of development thinking based on the constant desire to learn and develop capabilities is what will increase the attractiveness of man to occupy future jobs starting with 2020, and in the second report, the McKinsey Institute warns that 800 million jobs are lost by 2030, and that 30% of Working hours in the world today will be automated, that is, technology will replace people with it.

In these two reports or many others that predict future trends, we find that data and artificial intelligence, critical thinking, emotional intelligence, creativity and leadership, and the ability to formulate stories to reflect experiences, the intelligence of multiple cultures, and master the skill of focus, all are a mix of skills necessary to compete professionally For the future starting now.

This made us in the Dubai Smart Department, from the first moments, to consider capacity building as a strategic goal, and within them we created data science programs, in partnership with several academic authorities of two types to sharpen the skills of current data teams such as the Data Heroes Program, leading to the development of the first Master of Science program Data of its kind in the world in September 2018, in cooperation with the University of Technology “Rochester”, and other similar initiatives, including also employing data science to study the current job market, and employing outputs to acquire future skills.

The Global Programmer Initiative and Global Reports is an early warning of the challenges of the future, but it is a clear path to what it takes to win the rich opportunities that the future holds for us, which I call, through "data moments", to seize it by arming ourselves and our children with the skills that I mentioned.
