The strikers of La Méridionale voted on Wednesday to resume work after the agreement found between their company and its competitor Corsica Linea (ex-SNCM), whose ships, them, should remain blocked by part of its employees on call of the CGT.

"We voted by a majority to lift the blockages of the ships in a general assembly Wednesday morning after more than 20 days of strike," announces Cyril Venouil, STC delegate at La Méridionale. "Regarding the La Méridionale ships, nothing prevents them from leaving, we decided to resume work today," continued Cyril Venouil.

On strike since January 10

Since January 10, strikers from La Méridionale, a company belonging to the Stef logistics group, have been blocking two of their boats and three from the Corsica Linea in the port of Marseille, at the call of the Corsican workers' union (STC) and the CFTC, in the context of negotiations on the future service of Corsica from which La Méridionale employees feared being excluded.

They were joined on January 15 by employees of Corsica Linea at the call of the CGT, which for its part, announced Wednesday that it had voted to continue blocking its vessels until at least Thursday, according to Frédéric Alpozzo, employee at Corsica Linea and CGT general secretary of Marseille sailors.
