Fires in Australia continue to ravage the country - / AP / SIPA

Faced with the fires that have ravaged Australia since last September, the Auvergne Animal Park has decided to act by creating a kitty of solidarity. In partnership with the Passerelle Conservation, an endowment fund, the park located in Ardes-sur-Couze (Puy-de-Dôme) is launching a call for donations.

All the funds collected will go directly to associations that act for the reconstruction of natural environments, in particular the reforestation of areas affected by fires. In order to reach as many people as possible, the hashtag # SolidaritéAustralia was launched at the same time as the prize pool, reports France Bleu Pays d'Auvergne.

Partnership with the rugby community

Several actions in the world of rugby will give visibility to this initiative. And for good reason, the former international rugby player Julien Pierre, originally from Puy-de-Dôme, is the president of the Passerelle Conservation. "We must act now so as not to leave a devastated planet to our children," warns the former sportsman on Twitter.

The prize pool will also be highlighted during the In Extenso Supersevens Rugby, the new French 7-a-side rugby championship, which will be launched this Saturday. On this occasion, 100 euros will be donated for each marked test. In total, 5,000 euros minimum should be collected, thanks to this gesture funded by La Passerelle Conservation and the Endowment Fund of the National Rugby League.
