Colombian and Peruvian media reported that a Colombian woman and her three children were rescued, after they had been missing for 34 days in the Amazon rainforest, which is described as one of the most dangerous forests in the world.

The mother (40 years) and her children (10, 12 and 14 years) were vacationing with the father in the Colombian part of the Amazon, according to the German website «Deutsche Welle».

The El Tempo newspaper reported that the family decided to visit a remote area in the woods, but separated, and the four people (the mother and her three children) lost the way to the father. When they went to find him, they lost their way and ended up in the Peruvian part of the forest.

During this period they lived on eating berries, and then finally met an indigenous woman in Ubeneto, northeastern Peru, 180 km from the Colombian Legizamo region from which they came. The local residents later posted their photos on Facebook, enabling the father to locate the remaining missing family members.

On Sunday, the Colombian and Peruvian navies rescued the four, and found that they were malnourished, parasites infiltrated their bodies and injured their feet, were taken to hospital, and the children were said to be in serious condition.
