The Brazilian writer Paulo Coelho has thrown away the draft text for a children's book that he was working on with basketball player Kobe Bryant who died on Sunday, The Guardian reports Tuesday.

After the sudden death of the basketball legend, Coelho received many requests from fans to finish the book. However, the writer believes that the book "now has lost its reason".

The writer announced on Monday that he was working on a book with Bryant. In August 2019, Bryant Coelho is said to have made a proposal to work together on a children's book. Coelho would have replied: "Always."

The American basketball legend Bryant died last Sunday at the age of 41 in a helicopter crash in the California city of Calabasas. His thirteen-year-old daughter Gianna died in the accident.
