Five years ago (Heisei 27) two trials were conducted on Tatsuhiko Hirano, 45, accused of killing five men and women of two families who lived near his home in Sumoto City, Awaji Island, Hyogo Prefecture with a knife. The Osaka High Court has canceled the first instance sentence and sentenced to life imprisonment.
