Mural paintings were burned in the fire 71 years ago, and firefighting training was conducted at Horyuji Temple in Nara, which triggered the "Fire Prevention Day for Cultural Properties".

Cultural Heritage Fire Prevention Day was established on January 26, 1949 when a fire broke out in the Kondo of Horyuji Temple, the oldest existing wooden building in the world, and murals were burned.

On the 26th, a memorial service was held in a storage room where murals of important cultural properties damaged by the fire were stored, and about 100 people, including firefighters and temple officials, renewed their vows to protect cultural properties.

Participants confirmed that the sprinklers installed on the roof of the storage were working properly, and four fire pump pumps and other pumps pumped water from a pond in the precincts and released water all at once. And so on.

Last year, fires at Notre Dame Cathedral in France and Shuri Castle in Okinawa have been fired one after another.

"I am very sorry that the precious heritage such as Shuri Castle has been lost. I want to recall the fire of Horyuji, train again every year, and never again."
