A sports shooter is said to have shot six people in Rot am See in northeastern Baden-Württemberg. According to the current state of knowledge, the German was related to all victims, it said at a press conference of the police. Parents are among the dead.
The alleged perpetrator himself called the police and stated that he had shot several people. He was arrested. Two people were injured in the shooting, one of whom was still in mortal danger. The 26-year-old also threatened two young people. The dead are three men and three women.
The man said he had a gun license as a marksman, the police said. The murder weapon was a semi-automatic handgun. One assumes a lone perpetrator, there are no indications of other persons involved in the crime. The motive of the alleged perpetrator is still unclear. The crime happened in a restaurant where the 26-year-old and some of the victims would have lived. Nothing is known about the marksman's marital status.
The municipality of Rot am See has almost 5,400 inhabitants and is located between Crailsheim (Baden-Württemberg) and Rothenburg ob der Tauber (Bavaria).
