Jean Paul Gaultier, at the end of his last fashion show at the Théâtre du Châtelet, in Paris, on January 22, 2020 - LAURENT VU / SIPA

Corsets, diverted stripes, cut and reconstituted jeans or dresses made from old belts… For more than an hour, Wednesday evening, Jean Paul Gaultier presented his “recycled” haute couture collection at the Théâtre du Châtelet, in Paris. His last after 50 years of career.

Two hundred models, including the Hadid sisters, the Russian Irina Shayk, the French Cindy Bruna, the Canadian Winnie Harlow, carried the creations of the 67-year-old French designer. Several of the muses of the fashionable child like Amanda Lear, the American pin-up Dita Von Teese, the Spanish actress Rossy de Palma or even the ex-model and actress Farida Khelfa responded. Guest stars Djibril Cissé, Estelle Lefebure, Coco Rocha, Antoine De Caunes, Kiddy Smile, Cristina Cordula, the ex-miss Univers Iris Mittenaere or even Béatrice Dalle paraded on the podium during a show interspersed with the music of the English singer Boy George, Catherine Ringer or Mylène Farmer.

"The best is ahead", assured the most "male" of the stylists in the note of intent for the parade without revealing his future project. Standing ovation.
