We almost lost a bolt while visiting the Museum of Illusion in Paris. - I. Zerbib / 20 Minutes

"It killed my brain!" Exclaims a visitor in front of a sculpture from the Museum of Illusion. It must be said that the composition, however fixed it looks at, comes to life strangely when it moves. The Museum opened in Paris last December and has been full since then.

"It was during a trip to Zagreb, Croatia, where the world's first illusion museum is located, that the idea of opening this museum in Paris came up," explains Steven Carnel, co-founder and door - word of the establishment. Of modest size, the place is efficient. No less than 70 illusions with chic and modern color codes are grouped together and make our neurons work in a fun and disturbing way. You can discover some of them in the video below.

Along the way, there are more or less known geometric paintings, including Fraser's spiral or Hermann's grid, sculptures that come to life and change our perception depending on the angle of view like Rubin's Vase, stereograms, holograms, sets of mirrors, a destabilizing vortex tunnel, the concept of afterimage that tickles our retinas, a room to defy the law of attraction, the room known as the American ophthalmologist Adelbert Ames, puzzles, Beuchet's chair, a kaleidoscope and among other things a magic box that makes us think "what is this witchcraft?" ". We come out of it upside down.

If you've lost your illusions, this is the place to find them.
