In the lake on Mount Akagi in Maebashi City, winter smelt fishing, smelt fishing on ice has been lifted on the morning of the 22nd, about 10 days later than usual due to the warm winter, and many lovers are crowded.

At "Onuma" in Mt. Akagi, smelt fishing on ice is lifted every year on January 10th. However, the ice was not thickened due to the warm winter, and it was impossible to lift the ban.

Local fishermen's cooperatives lifted the ban at 7 am on the 22nd, except for the center of the lake, as the ice thickness on the east and west sides of the lake reached 15 centimeters, a measure of lifting.

Around 350 enthusiasts came along with the lifting of the ban, immediately drilling a hole in a frozen lake, hanging a fishing line, and waited for a smelt.

When I caught a fish, a smelt about 10 cm long appeared.

A 60-year-old man from Maebashi City said, "It's a warm winter and it's not easy to lift my ban.

Aki Yasutaka Aoki, the president of the Akagi Onuma Fishery Cooperative, said, "It's warm and the ice hasn't thickened, so I'm very happy to lift the ban. I want the people who come to catch a lot."

Onuma's smelt fishing can be enjoyed until around March.
