TEPCO summarized the outline of the decommissioning plan, which outlines the decommissioning process, and explained it to the local town council in Tomioka on March 22.

According to this, the decommissioning work will be completed over 44 years from the start, and a total of more than 10,000 nuclear fuel in the spent fuel pool will be taken out for 22 years and handed over to a company that performs reprocessing etc. is.

The amount of radioactive waste generated by the decommissioning is about 50,000 tons, and the total cost except nuclear fuel processing is estimated at more than 280 billion yen.

TEPCO will also explain to Naraha Town, Fukushima Prefecture, and apply for a formal decommissioning plan to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission based on the comments received.
