Louis Vuitton caught the eye today with its latest purchase, the second largest diamond in the world.

The famous brand, owned by the company "LVMH", said last week that it had bought the diamond "Sowelo", which weighs 1758 carats. She showed the shiny dark colored stone in her shop at Place Vendôme in the capital, El Nour, Paris.

Louis Vuitton did not disclose the price you paid for the acquisition of the diamond. The stone, the size of a tennis ball and covered in carbon, was found in Botswana last year and will be cut into jewels.

"Soylo" is a word in the local Systuanese language in Botswana, meaning "rare discovery". The Canada-based mining company, Locara, which owns the mine, where the diamond was found, said the stone would turn into a set of jewelry. Lucara has partnered with Louis Vuitton and an Antwerp-based jewelry manufacturing company.

Only in 2012 did Louis Vuitton, who is famous for making expensive handbags, enter the world of jewelry, as she competed with Bulgari, which is also owned by Richemont's LVMH and Cartier.
