Sébastien Demorand, juror of MasterChef , died at the age of 50 from a long illness, according to information from Le Point and Le Parisien on Tuesday. Information confirmed at 20 Minutes by Le Bel Ordinary, a gastronomic project in which he had participated in 2017. Former journalist, he was one of the most well-known gastronomic critics of the general public.

After being a journalist for Europe 1, he joined the prestigious Gault-et-Millau guide in the late 1990s, before working on his own.

"Very saddened by his disappearance"

Sébastien Demorand was in 2010 a jury member of MasterChef on TF1, alongside Yves Camdeborde and Frédéric Anton. A revelation for all fans of the show.

Many personalities paid tribute to him on social networks this Tuesday. "Very saddened by the disappearance of the epicurean and still very friendly Sébastien Demorand, whom I had come across with pleasure at the start of the Bel Ordinaire or at random in Parisian restaurants," wrote Franceinfo journalist Matteu Maestracci.

Christophe Conte also paid tribute to him, as did the columnist for C dans l'air on France 5, Laurent Bazin.

Peace to the epicurean and joyful soul of Sébastien Demorand, a golden guy, able to link the virtues of German wine and the music of Kraftwerk. Among others.

A huge thought for Sebastien Demorand, who has just left us. You were gifted, Sébastien, original, curious, greedy, a beautiful soul, not ordinary for two sous.
We already miss your talent and your generosity, my friend.
I kiss you like you kiss life. Fort. pic.twitter.com/ZyCsEFrc8d
