Renée Zellweger and Joaquin Phoenix each took home the statuette in the top female and male lead categories for their roles in Judy and Joker respectively. South Korean Bong Joon Ho with acclaimed and acclaimed drama Parasite became the first film in his own home language to take the category Ensemble into film.
The 2020 gala season has proven fruitful for both Phoenix and Zellweger. They were both honored with the Golden Globe and Critics choice award, and with the win at SAG they have now taken home three figurines each for their role performance.
Unlike the Oscars gala - and more like the Golden globe - the SAG award also awards the past year's performance in the series format. In the actor categories there were, among others, praised Peter Dinklage for Game of Thrones and Jennifer Aniston for The morning show.
