• The RAE report "The Constitution is impeccable"
  • Advancement: The RAE will say no to Calvo

The Vice President of the Government, Carmen Calvo, has announced that she wishes Monday that the RAE report on inclusive language in the Constitution, where the institution concludes that it is not in favor of its reform, "do not be disappointing" for women who want to be named according to their gender. This was also stated today by the Minister of the Presidency and Relations with the Courts and Democratic Memory, upon arrival at the first meeting of the General Committee of Secretariats and Undersecretaries of State of this legislature and after learning about this report commissioned by her, she does more from one year to the SAR.

This is a text where, in the words of the director of the Spanish Royal Academy, Santiago Muñoz, it is clear that the Constitution is "grammatically impeccable" , although they also express whether it would be "correct" to unfold words like prince and princess in a future constitutional reform.

In this sense, Calvo has pointed out that what he intended a year and a half ago was that "it should help the formal and official language", that "our splendid language" , be updated "with what is normal in the street ".

"They call us vice presidents, ministers, deputies, mayors or councilors. It is about moving forward with language what is already normal in the street, " he added.

In this regard, the vice president has wished that the unanimously approved report of all RAE academics "may not be disappointing" for women who want - including her - to be named according to their gender.

"Because advancing in inclusive language or stopping it is not in anyone's hands : it is on the street and in our lives. It is something as normal, as democratic and as desirable as language to help pick up the reality that already exists , and transform it with respect towards women, "he concluded.
