His favorite quote:

The car was jolting slowly in the stream of fugitives who was the image of this torn, abandoned country. They were faces and faces everywhere. A huge funeral procession, Louise thought, become the overwhelming mirror of our sorrows and our defeats.

Why this book?

  • Because the rhythm is cinematographic , with falls at the end of the chapters, the decorations are neat, the scripted story is documented, highlighting characters for whom we have empathy.
  • Because Lemaître makes us revisit our history by leafing through it with women and men.
  • Because Lemaître knows how to keep us going with his effects as a thriller writer.
