"Riki mochi" was held in Kamiita-cho, Tokushima Prefecture to compete for walking distance with a large mirror mochi.

"Rikimochi" is a traditional event that has been passed down to Daisenji Temple in Kamiita-cho for more than 400 years, and about 140 people from inside and outside the prefecture have participated.

At the venue, a 20-meter-long straight course was set up, and they reciprocated with mirror cakes of different weights depending on their age and gender, and competed for the walking distance.

Of these, the "Kids' section" carries 19 kg of kagami mochi together with the pedestal.

The crowd gathered and cheered on the children, who were holding their big kagami mochi with their arms full and working hard forward.

On the other hand, the weight of the mirror rice cake used in the "General Men's Section" weighs 141 kg together with the pedestal, and those who participated were stepping their feet one step at a time while turning their faces red.

A 6-year-old boy from Tokushima City, who won the "Toddler's Club", said, "I thought I could win for the first time, but the mochi was heavy."

A 12-year-old boy from Matsushige-cho, Tokushima Prefecture, who won the "Elementary School" section, said, "I'm very happy to be a participant for the first time and be able to win. I want to do my best again next year."
