The very next day after Vladimir Putin addressed the Federal Assembly, the deputies of the European Parliament accused the Russian leader of the intention to "rewrite history." The most piquant thing here is that such statements were made by members of the German delegation, representing a country that still does not deny that it started the war 75 years ago, although German political thought works in this direction.

The head of the European People’s Party faction, Manfred Weber, believes the Russian president’s historic statements regarding Poland’s role in creating the conditions for the Nazis to unleash military falsification

Another German MP who supported Weber, Reinhard Butikofer, went a lot further, hinting that Putin’s “rhetorical aggression” could be “the first step in setting a goal for something more.” It is understood that the “aggression”, which has been overturned in the past, is transformed into actions similar in nature, but already in today's reality. Rare in the impudence and senselessness of the remark, which would not be surprising if she called from the lips of a Baltic politician.

The Poles and the Germans who spoke out in their defense are outraged that Vladimir Putin allegedly accuses Poland of being responsible for the German attack.

The Russian president has recently touched on this historical topic many times. At his large press conference on December 19, he only recalled that in 1938, Polish troops at the same time as German troops invaded Czechoslovakia and occupied two of its regions. I will add one detail: the day before the invasion, Great Britain, France and Italy, having signed the Munich Agreement, gave their consent to the partition of Czechoslovakia. After that, Hitler realized that he could afford everything in Europe. In fact, the collusion of Germany and Poland in 1938 created the prerequisites for the outbreak of World War II exactly a year later.

Vladimir Putin does not deny the entry of Soviet troops in accordance with the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact. He only explains that at that time the Polish army was defeated by German troops, and the Polish leadership was on the border of Hungary and Romania, preparing to flee the country. That is, a stab in the back to valiantly defending Polish troops is a later legend, designed to block the bitter truth about the true role of Poland in preparing for war.

The Russian president himself described in detail and several times the allied relations between Poland and Germany in the pre-war period, making references to the relevant archival documents and treaties. For a long time, the Polish authorities have upheld a version depicting Poland as an innocent victim of two villains - Hitler and Stalin - who are equally guilty of unleashing the Second World War. This is a direct lie that does not stand up to any verification of facts.

We will say it again: if it were not for the active cooperation of the Poles with the Nazis with the support of leading European countries, then the story could have turned out differently.

However, this does not mean at all that the Russian leader blames Poland itself for the German attack. The blame lies only with the one who attacked, and, according to Putin, it is these events that cannot be revised. During the informal summit of the CIS countries, the Russian president expressed it this way: “But I think that the fact remains that it was fascist Germany that attacked Poland on September 1, 1939, and the Soviet Union on June 22”.

What motives did the German deputies follow in supporting the false position of Warsaw? And this is precisely the direction that is actively being worked out by German politicians. They are trying not only to keep their country and the USSR on the same board as equal culprits of the beginning of the most terrible war in the history of mankind, but to advance further, portraying the Russians as unrepentant people, and therefore bear far greater moral responsibility for the atrocity committed.

As Chairman of the State Duma Committee Leonid Slutsky wrote on his page on the social network: “At the upcoming PACE session, the Russian delegation will most likely propose a declaration calling for the preservation of the historical memory of the Second World War. Our children must know who actually secured the Great Victory. ”

The draft of such a declaration should include the entire list of documents giving an idea of the true alignment and balance of forces and ideologies in pre-war Europe. Even if it is not possible to achieve support in the voting, the publication of a package of historical data and its translation into all European languages will undoubtedly have a tremendous effect. It will be much more difficult for German deputies to go against facts if these facts are publicly laid out on the table.
