Taika Waititi will he be the next director to work on the saga ? Haloed by the success of Jojo Rabbit , his latest film critically acclaimed (and named at the Oscars), the New Zealander would have been approached by Disney to stage an opus of the cult franchise, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
We don't know more yet, and neither Disney nor Lucasfilm have commented on the rumor. The director, meanwhile, amused the interest of fans by posting on Twitter an image of the jacket of the Rumors album by Fleetwood Mac.
Taika Waititi is already, in a way, part of the Star Wars universe. The director has indeed doubled the IG-11 robot in The Mandalorian , the spin-off series of the saga, but he also and especially directed the last episode of the program, considered as a second wind for the franchise after the relative disappointment of Episode IX, The Ascension of Skywalker .
