The popular podcast Mordpodden's section The dentist murder was reported by police author Lars Ohlson for copyright infringement 2017. According to Lars Ohlson, podiatrists Amanda Karlsson and Linnéa Bohlin have plagiarized his book Kakelugnmordet to a large extent from 2016.

In the police report, Lars Ohlson reports 80 points where, according to him, the podcast's program manager presents information from the book, reads paragraphs and sentences and presents his analyzes as his own. Something the Culture News previously reported.

"It's not journalism"

In November 2019, prosecutors brought charges against Mordpodden and during Friday the trial in Stockholm District Court began.

- This case is in principle important in a new media landscape with this kind of podcasts claiming to do journalism. I don't think this is journalism to write off and plagiarize. This is something completely different and this cannot be continued, Lars Ohlson tells the Culture News in connection with the trial.

The podiatrists Amanda Karlsson and Linnéa Bohlin have not wanted to interview the Cultural News, nor do they want to do so in connection with the trial proceedings. Their legal representatives also decline to comment on the trial proceedings.

Be careful of source references

Amanda Karlsson and Linnéa Bohlin have previously expressed in e-mails to the Culture News that they think the situation is "extremely sad and it has affected us extremely personally" and that they are accurate with source references:

“We put an enormous amount of work into our podium and are careful to refer to sources, which we have also done in this case. Our sections are mainly based on judgments and preliminary investigations, but since this was such an old case, the information in this section is partly taken from the book, which we are open with. We specify both book titles and authors. ”, They wrote to the Cultural News.

Ohlson: That's not enough

But even though the book Kakelugnmordet is listed as one of several sources in the section (which was taken down in connection with the criticism) Lars Ohlson does not think it is enough.

- During the course of the story, the Kakelovn murder is not mentioned as a source on a single occasion, nor in any introduction. After 41 minutes, they say "This is all we had to say about the Dentist murder". When the story is over, they cite the Stove Murder as one of three sources of information that they have had access to. No, that's not enough, says Lars Ohlson.

They are expected to fall on January 31.
