What will the news look like in 2050? - Pixabay

Infobesity, fake news , undermined independence, speed of flows ... The media are the subject of strong criticism. At a time when information is proliferating and technologies are changing the way we get information, they must reaffirm their role in order to guarantee reliable and verified information. So what will the media look like in 2050?

As part of Media and Citizens, a major consultation launched by Bluenove with nine partner media including 20 Minutes , we are publishing the contributions from the Bright Mirror workshops which have been held all over France since December 2019. For this fourth episode , Marine, Hervé, Aliette, Viviane invite us to discover a world where koalas have almost disappeared and where information has become completely immersive.

Informational dashboard and positive info

"Paris, it is January 15, 2050.

This morning I went on an immersion in Namibia.

I quietly drink my coffee, I consult my informational dashboard which was displayed on the table in my bistro. I see some headlines: "Fires in Moscow", "The UN government announces its new detention camp on Mars" ... I do not want that and I hit the button: positive news. There are always surprising subjects. This morning: "For the 3rd consecutive year, the Amazon has recovered ground on the soybean fields", "3,651 days without rape"….

Ah, a "Volunteer Reporters" alert. The subject of the day is the inventory of nourishing gardens. Interesting but I don't feel like a journalist today. I rather want to go live the info live and go and discover this species of Australian koala that we thought disappeared and which was found in Namibia. I launch my immerser and I have Yael Bokara from Namibia who appears to me. "

Walk among the koalas

“We start to dialogue and to walk among the koalas. He tells me the whole story of their extinction in Australia by sending me videos that I put in my notebook to watch them later. He presents me with different points of view on the future of koalas and offers me several experts with whom I can go to dialogue if I want to know more and also an association which helps their development in harmony with the population. It's so simple today, complexity has become a piece of fun!

Before finishing, he offers me another subject on Namibia on the Citizens' Convention on education and reporting courses.

Ah it's super interesting but my personal alert has vibrated, I have to leave ... I ask him:

- Can you give me a 2 minute podcast? I will listen to her when I go to see my sister. "
