The French designer Jean-Paul Gaultier announced Friday his farewell to the catwalks , to which he will say goodbye next Wednesday in the parade of his autumn-winter 2021 collection , but assures that the brand will continue with "a new concept".

The creator gave the news in a brief statement to the media where he explained that on January 22 he will celebrate his 50 years of fashion career with a great couture parade at the Châtelet Theater in Paris where it will be "his last parade" .

In addition, Gaultier, 67, included in his statement a video in a funny tone in which he explains that it is not the end of his brand . "I'm going to give you an exclusive, it's going to be my last couture parade. You can't miss it but I guarantee you that Gaultier Paris will continue, haute couture will continue, I have a new concept. I'll tell you about it later," He said in the video.

The creator, who founded his own firm in 1976 , already changed his business in 2014 when he left the prêt-à-porter parades to focus on haute couture and beauty.

The so-called "enfant terrible" of French fashion began as an apprentice to designer Pierre Cardin when he was 18 years old and became an international fashion reference in the 80s, boosting Paris's reputation as a fashion capital, thanks for example to her corsets and conical bras worn by celebrities like singer Madonna.

In addition to fashion and beauty, Gaultier has also launched into the world of entertainment with a play and cabaret, Fashion Freak Show, which began to show in Paris in 2018 and was attended by Rossy de Palma and Dita Von Teese , among other actresses.
