Madrigall, the parent company of Gallimard, Flammarion, POL or even the Round Table and Denoël, will drastically reduce its presence at the Salon Livre Paris, said Antoine Gallimard in the World of Books dated Friday.

“The fund no longer interests visitors as much, who prefer new things. Livre Paris has become a youth-oriented salon for the general public, ”said the head of the Madrigall group to justify his decision. From its usual 1,000 m2, the group will only keep a 120 m2 stand to present pocket books from the Folio, Folio Junior, J'ai Lu and GF collections.

160,000 visitors in 2019

The Hachette Livre group, which includes the Grasset, Stock, Fayard and Calmann-Lévy editions, has not participated in the Fair for several years. Only some of its subsidiaries, including the Pocket Book and school publishing houses, participate.

Editions de Minuit will also not have a stand at the Show which will take place this year from March 20 to 23. Albin Michel, Seuil and Actes Sud in particular will, however, be very present at the Salon.

The “Livre Paris” fair is the largest literary event in France. Last year, it welcomed some 160,000 visitors.
