Aart Staartjes, who died last Sunday from the injuries he sustained in a traffic accident, was buried in a closed circle on Friday. Several former colleagues of the actor were present at the funeral, including Wieteke van Dort and Theo Maassen, with whom Staartjes played in Het Klokhuis and the Waltz series respectively.
Also Michiel Kerbosch, with whom Staartjes was shown during the Sinterklaas entry, and Sesame Street colleague Frank Groothof were present at the funeral. The funeral took place in the Frisian town of Dronrijp, where Staartjes lived.
Several memorial places for Sttails have been created. For example, people at the Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision in Hilversum can leave condolences and memories in a special memorial book.
A condolence register for Staartjes was opened in the Dronrijp library. People who wanted to sign the register or lay down flowers were given the opportunity earlier this week.
A Sesame Street marathon will be broadcast on Zapp's theme channel on Friday between 5 and 8 p.m. During this broadcast, episodes are shown in which Staartjes had a prominent role.
