A confrontation took place Wednesday between Adèle Haenel and Christophe Ruggia during the police custody of the director, accused of "touching" and "sexual harassment" by the actress, when she was a teenager, do we have learned this Thursday from a source familiar with the matter.

During this confrontation, everyone maintained their version, the filmmaker contesting the questioning of which he is the object, according to this source. He was referred Thursday morning to the Paris court and must now be presented to an examining magistrate for possible indictment.

"Permanent sexual harassment"

Little known to the general public, the 55-year-old filmmaker was arrested on Tuesday morning before being questioned in Nanterre by investigators from the Central Office for the Suppression of Violence against Persons (OCRVP).

The business started in the fall when Adèle Haenel, rewarded by two César in 2014 and 2015, accused Christophe Ruggia with Mediapart. She denounced in the online newspaper "the grip" that the filmmaker would have exercised over her during the preparation and shooting of the film Les Diables (2002), then "permanent sexual harassment", repeated "touching" and " forced kisses in the neck ”, which would have taken place at his home and at several international festivals, all when she was 12 to 15 years old.

Ruggia defended himself in the media

Adèle Haenel had initially refused to take legal action, being justified by a concise and critical formula on an institution which "condemns so little": "Justice ignores us, we ignore justice". She finally filed a complaint a few days after the opening of a preliminary investigation by the prosecution.

The actress had said in a statement that "public denials" of Christophe Ruggia had "determined to obtain judicial recognition of his status as a victim". The director has defended himself several times in the media, claiming for example to have "made the mistake of playing the pygmalions with the misunderstandings and hindrances that such a posture causes".
