A soldier in his twenties, who was seriously injured on January 2 during an avalanche in Isère, succumbed to his injuries, bringing the death toll of this snowfall to two, announced on Facebook on 93rd mountain artillery regiment to which he belonged.
The flow took place at 2,400 m above sea level in a corridor in the Belledonne massif, while two soldiers based in Varces, south of Grenoble, did ski touring on their leisure time.
One of them, who belonged to the 7th battalion of alpine hunters (7th BCA), died on the spot. The second, polytraumatized, had been transported to the Grenoble University Hospital. An investigation, entrusted to the PGHM of Isère, was opened to determine the circumstances of the tragedy.
