Relatives of Cédric Chouviat, delivery man who died in Paris after his arrest by the police, were received by Christophe Castaner on Tuesday. "We would have liked these four police officers to be suspended but there apparently we are waiting for other things, they cannot do it today, I don't understand why," said Fatima Chouviat, the mother of the victim. He added: "They were put a license to kill in their hands and that day, they used it. I hope they will be judged at the assizes ”.

The minister "did not take any decision and did not respond to questions from family and lawyers, in particular the request for suspension of the police officers involved in the death of Cédric Chouviat but also the ban, possibly a moratorium , immobilization techniques that led to his death, namely the ventral plating and the throttle key, "said one of the family's lawyers, Arié Alimi. According to the victim's father, the family "solemnly" asked the minister to ban these two techniques.

"I blame these four individuals who killed my son"

According to William Bourdon, another family lawyer, the minister however announced "a study of the police techniques complained of" with the participation "of civil society, NGOs and lawyers". If there were no "concrete answers", Father Christian Chouviat, noted however that Christophe Castaner who received relatives for more than an hour, "spoke with his heart". "I do not want the national police, I want these four individuals who killed my son," continued Christian Chouviat.

Cédric Chouviat, a 42-year-old father working as a delivery man, was suffocated with a broken larynx on January 3 near the Eiffel Tower after being tackled to the ground, helmet on his head, by several police during a tense roadside check. Transported in critical condition to the hospital, he died on January 5 as a result of asphyxia "with fracture of the larynx", according to the first elements of the autopsy communicated by the parquet floor of Paris, which opened a judicial investigation for "manslaughter".
