High School Career Survey Students of the first choice for metropolitan high school decrease for 3 consecutive years January 12 7:02

A career survey of third-year students at public junior high schools in Tokyo for Kotono's high school entrance examinations showed that the number of students who had chosen a full-time metropolitan high school as their first choice decreased for the third consecutive year. This is thought to be due to the fact that tuition fees at private high schools are virtually free and the popularity of communication high schools is growing.

This survey is conducted by the Tokyo Metropolitan Junior High School Association every year. This time, we surveyed 75,333 third-year students of public junior high schools in Tokyo.

As a result, the number of students who chose a full-time metropolitan high school in the Kotono High School entrance examination was 49,445, 1,835 less than the previous year, a decrease for the third consecutive year.

On the other hand, the number of students who made their first choice for private high schools other than Tokyo was 19,100, an increase of 626 from the previous year, up for the third consecutive year.

In addition, the number of students who chose a private correspondence high school, which accepts students from a wide area, was 1,843, and the number of applicants has been increasing in recent years.

Regarding the background, the Association of Junior High Schools analyzed that private high schools 'efforts to reduce tuition fees and the increasing popularity of correspondence high schools have increased the choice of students' career options.

The entrance exam for the Tokyo Metropolitan High School will be conducted sequentially from the recommended entrance exam on the 26th of this month.
