Omani TV announced a short time ago, the inauguration of Haitham bin Tariq bin Taymur as Sultan.
Haitham bin Tariq bin Taymur Al Said took the legal oath this morning in front of the Council of Oman, Sultan of Oman, according to the Basic Law of the State, as stated by "Al-Arabiya" on its website.
The Council of Oman held an emergency session at its headquarters in Al-Bustan, where the oath was performed.
It is noteworthy that the new Sultan of Oman is the cousin of Sultan Qaboos, and he has held the post of Minister of Culture and Heritage since 2002, and he held positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs between 1986 and 2002.
Sultan Qaboos bin Said had died at dawn today, and the royal court in Oman called him, declaring mourning and disrupting the official work of the public and private sectors for a period of 3 days, as well as flagging flags in the next forty days.
