  • Fontainebleau Palace. The Police believe that the alleged Spanish thieves acted for the Chinese mafia

The Chinese mafia would have commissioned the Spanish hallucinator Juan María Gordillo Plaza, known in Spain as El Niño Juan , the theft of Chinese art objects in the Palace of Fontainebleau, as confirmed by EL MUNDO Spanish police sources. Gordillo would be part of the six arrested at the end of the year by French police in this frustrated robbery.

The six alleged thieves - five Spaniards and one Chinese - were arrested early in the morning from December 27 to 28 in the parking lot of a hotel in Nemours (near Paris), where they were staying, before they entered to steal in the castle. French police discovered levers, balaclavas, gloves and spikes in the trunk of their cars.

The Chinese track was one of the tracks that are shuffled with more force since the beginning of the investigation of this case, just as EL MUNDO advanced a few days ago. The French police, however, do not confirm the identities of the six detainees, who are between 30 and 40 years old .

"The investigation begins. The Chinese track is a working track. It is important. We start from scratch. We have the people we have stopped and the work is going to start there. Why have they come here? Who has made the commission, if there has been a commission? I cannot give you that information because I do not have it. The investigations begin. There is a huge job that remains to be done, "Jean-Luc Boyer, deputy head of the Central Office for Combating Traffic of Cultural Property (OCBC) of the French police.

Capture of the video of one of the arrests of the lunatic 'El Niño Juan' in Spain.

It is still too early to know "if there is a large network (specializing in art theft) or if it is an individual (who would have made the order). It is too soon," Boyer added.

In the castle follow the details of the investigation by the press. "We do not know the pieces that thieves wanted to steal ... because by definition we have not been impacted," explains Alexis de Kermel, head of communication at the Palace of Fontainebleau. In the castle they are not aware of the details of the ongoing police investigation. "The police informed us that there was a robbery in preparation ," De Kermel explained.

After the attempted robbery, in which castle do not think, for the moment, strengthen security measures. "Our security device is quite good. We pay close attention. It is normal to pay attention when there are attempted robberies that have been thwarted by the police. This leads us to raise our guard, but the security device works . "

In the castle they also ignore if the alleged robbers had gone to visit the Palace and Fontainebleau days and hours before, as the French press assures.

The castle of Fontainebleau was already the victim of a robbery in 2015. The Thieves took on that occasion 22 pieces, including a golden crown replica of the King of Siam, gift to Napoleon III; a Tibetan mandala and several 18th-century porcelains. These stolen works have not yet been recovered nor has anyone been arrested for that theft.

"It always takes time for objects (stolen) to rise to the surface. The first thing they do is hide the objects and sometimes, ten years later, an object comes out and from that moment we can pull the thread and retrieve our objects. As for the objects of the Chinese museum (stolen in 2015) we are waiting, "De Kermel explained.
