Rihanna, Damso and Sexion d'Assaut are eagerly awaited in 2020. - Joel C Ryan / SADAKA EDMOND / BENHAMOU LAURENT / SIPA

  • The year 2020 has many musical surprises in store for us.
  • Rihanna, Damso, Sexion d'Assaut… “20 Minutes” offers you a quick overview of the albums highly anticipated this year.

If the year started off rather badly and everything is already going away, 2020 may still have some nice surprises in store. And among the great events that await us, music, as always, could bring some relief to our hearts. Starting with the return of Rihanna, who knows how to be desired, of the Sexion of Assault, who is constantly pushing back her reformation, or even the baptism of fire by Gambi, the rap revelation of 2019.

Come-back, surprises, second albums ... Before embarking body and soul in this new year, here is a little musical overview of what we should have in store for the next twelve months.

Big expectations

If there is one who is seriously starting to make her fans go crazy (we plan to rehabilitate old expressions in 2020), it is Riri. Very taken by her clothing and cosmetics brand Fenty, the singer has not released albums since 2016. But good news, R9 , her new vintage, is ready! The catch? As she said on Instagram, Rihanna does not yet want to release it ... But our little finger tells us that she should soon end the torture.

Another highly anticipated singer, Lady Gaga should also get back on the saddle this year. While her fans were waiting for a new album for the end of December, the "Mother Monster" assured Oprah Winfrey that she was continuing her journey into the world of music, hinting that her return would not be long in coming. It would be time, his last solo album, Joanne , dates back to 2016…

And if 2020 finally sounded the reformation of the Sexion of Assault? Eight years after the album L'Apogée , followed by the dissolution of the group, everything suggests that the Parisians should put the cover back this year. For proof, Black M affirmed on Twitter the return of Sexion in 2020, just like Dawala, the founder of the label Wati B (the producer of the group), who despite the cold with Gims, confirmed it at the microphone of Fred Musa on Skyrock. Patience, therefore ...

The artists expected at the turn

Those who know a lot about patience, are indeed Damso fans. Since 2015, the Belgian rapper has been talking about the end of the QALF project, while remaining vague and enigmatic. Admittedly, the artist left us in 2018 with the very good Lithopédion , and made some appearances on feats (with Orelsan and recently Hamza), but only a new album seems to be able to appease the appetite of its many fans. And if Damso suggests on Instagram that this new album is in the mixing phase, nothing indicates when the project will be released. But who knows, you are never immune to a good surprise…

In the family "expected at the turn", we ask Soolking, whose second album should be released this year. Revealed in 2018, the rapper flew over 2019, in particular becoming the voice of an Algerian youth, in full bubbling. But when one has climbed so high, difficult to stay at the top ... Will Soolking succeed equal to Dalida , Guerilla or Liberty ?

In a completely different register, Juliette Armanet, compared to Véronique Sanson at the release of Petite amie in 2017, should also return to the front of the stage with a second album much (too much?) Expected. We look forward to finding the singer as funny as poetic, who has been trying for months on Instagram to develop her new baby. Once again let us be patient, Juliette Armanet is well worth it.

Nice surprises?

Let’s finish with some speculation and rumors… After having “put an end” to the masquerade of “the octagon”, Kaaris resumed the paths of rap. In an Instagram post published in mid-December, the rapper implied the preparation of a new album entitled Château noir , as well as a cinema project. But do not get carried away, for the moment all this is not more palpable than a hashtag.

We don't really know what Ademo is working on, but it could smell very good for NLP fans. On January 1, the rapper posted a mysterious video of him on Insta, working on a new sound. What if PNL launched a new album a year after the tidal wave of Deux frères ? Or is it a solo project?

Another big hope of the year is the release of Gambi's first album, LA rap revelation of 2019. After hey oh , Popopop or Stevez with TK, we are obviously waiting for the dip in the great bath of the young rapper from Fontenay-sous-Bois . But let's be reasonable, let's just discover his next title, teased on the background of Daft Punk in December on Twitter…
