More than half of French people (55%) want the government not to complete pension reform in the state, according to an Ifop poll for the Sunday newspaper which also shows a decline in support for mobilization.

Asked if they want "the government to go through with the pension reform as it was announced, without giving in to mobilisations and strikes?" », 45% of those questioned answered in the affirmative in this poll made public this Sunday.

Sympathy for the stronger strike in Paris

But 75% (+6) of them nevertheless say that they think the government will not give in to the strikers. In total, 44% (-7) expressed support or sympathy for the protest movement, launched on December 5, against 37% (+3) for opposition or hostility.

Note that the sympathy felt towards the strike movement, which strongly disrupts Ile-de-France transport, is greater (46%) in the Paris region than in the rest of France (44%).

This survey was carried out by self-administered questionnaire online on January 2 and 3 with a sample of 1,005 people, according to the quota method.
