The "yellow vests" are not welcome on the Champs-Elysées for New Year's Eve. A decree of December 31 taken by the Paris police headquarters prohibits "any gathering, procession and demonstration claiming to be" vests yellow ”” on the famous avenue and part of the adjoining streets.

"In a context of high terrorist threat", according to a statement from the police headquarters, filtering dams and searches will be organized at various entry points of the avenue and a security perimeter will be established between 7 p.m. Tuesday and 3 a.m. Wednesday , while between 250,000 and 300,000 people gather each year on the Parisian avenue for New Years Eve.

The shops, bars and restaurants of the Champs-Elysées must also close the terraces installed on the sidewalks and remove "any furniture that may serve as a projectile or weapon by destination".

Protests of "yellow vests" are also prohibited in eight other sectors of the capital, according to the decree taken by the police prefecture, notably in the Trocadéro sector or around Notre-Dame cathedral, under penalty of a fine 135 euros.
