The Literature Museum / Children's Book Museum in The Hague has attracted a record number of visitors for the fifth time in a row, the museum reports Tuesday. In total, more than 123,000 people visited the museums in 2019.
The number of visitors to both museums has doubled in the last five years. And this is expected to continue in the coming years.
The Dutch Literature Museum and Literature Archive Foundation, which includes the museums, was established in 1954 and expanded in 1994 with the Children's Book Museum.
Recently the museum has a new exhibition: The headstrong children of Annie MG Schmidt. With this exhibition, the Literature Museum / Children's Book Museum gives the go-ahead for the celebration of 25 years of Children's Book Museum.
The whole of 2020 will be dominated by this anniversary, the highlight of which is a special edition of the Children's Book Parade. This will take place on May 21; the day it is 25 years ago that Annie MG Schmidt died.
