Fukuko-wari, a discount of up to 5,000 yen per night when staying at a ryokan or hotel in the area affected by Typhoon No. 19, began in Hakone town in Kanagawa prefecture.

“Fukukowari” is a project in which the government subsidizes some tourists' accommodation and travel expenses in order to support the affected areas where tourists have fallen due to disasters.

In Kanagawa Prefecture, 19 municipalities such as Kawasaki City, Odawara City, and Hakone Town, which were damaged by the typhoon No. 19 in October, are targeted, and reception started at travel agencies from 26th of this month.

There is an upper limit for each trip, but if you apply for one or more nights of travel or accommodation through a designated travel agency, you can receive a discount of up to 5,000 yen per person per night.

The implementation period is until February 28 next year, and will end as soon as the government subsidy to Kanagawa Prefecture and the budget of approximately 234 million yen are exhausted.
