Nara Yakushi-ji Temple, a national treasure buddha statue, dusts off on December 29 18:12 before the new year

Prior to the New Year, at the Yakushi-ji Temple in Nara City, a "Omi Nui" was performed to remove and clean dust such as the national treasure Yakushi Nyorai statue.

Yakushi-ji Temple's “wiping” is held every year on this day to have the Buddha statue greet the New Year with a beautiful appearance.

At the temple's Kondo, there was a memorial service that had the meaning of pulling out the soul of the Buddha statue as a tradition before touching the Buddha statue.

Approximately 60 people, including monks and student volunteers, used a ladder to climb the statue of Yakushi Nyorai and Nikko / Gekko Bodhisattva, the main treasures and national treasures, and carefully wiped off the accumulated dust with a cloth.

The Buddha statue regained its beautiful black glow in about 10 minutes, and worshipers visiting the temple quietly joined hands.

A woman from Shizuoka Prefecture as a family to commemorate her grandmother's life span, said, "I was impressed when I saw my first wipe at Yakushi-ji Temple. I prayed for my grandmother's health."

In addition, at Yakushi-ji Temple, the cover of the East Tower, which was installed for renovation work, has been removed for the first time in about eight years.
