The organizing committee of the Liwa International Festival 2020 confirmed that the event witnesses many new events this year, a set of improvements and entertainment areas to satisfy visitors, and to accommodate the increasing numbers of audiences and participants from different countries of the world.
The head of the festival’s infrastructure committee, Eng. Hamid Al Marzouqi, said that this year, the festival witnessed many development projects, with the aim of providing a distinct atmosphere, including improvements and a new walkway, at the festival site in the Tel Merib area in the city of Liwa, to accommodate the audience that is keen to follow events and competitions. Challenge, excitement and adventure, during the festival that runs until January.
Power, club and enthusiasm enveloped the free review competitions within the festival’s activities, the day before yesterday, as the jury Muhammad Al Junaibi crowned the first place in the free review competition for the “oblivion” and “station” categories, and won 100 thousand dirhams, after he won the review of the two categories, with applause from The audience that narrowed the flanks of the ring.
The competition intensified within the free parade circuit between the competitors, to win the major allocated prizes, and 100 contestants participated in the first round, and excitement continued in the closing round amid a large public presence and an enthusiastic atmosphere, as the free parade is one of the most popular competitions, and witnesses a great turnout especially among young people . And the supreme committee organizing the festival succeeded in legalizing this sport and putting it in a professional format, through the laws drawn up and laid down by the management of the Liwa Club, and the organizing committee provided the elements of security and safety.
"This sport carries a lot of challenge and excitement and enjoyment for those who follow it, but it is a sport for professionals and there is absolutely no room for amateurs or beginners," contestant Hamad Moussa said.
He added, "There are conditions and mechanisms that suit the selection of competitors, as well as special conditions and criteria for the car in which the contestant participates."
For his part, the Saudi contestant, Abdullah Al-Qahtani, said, "This is the first time that I have participated here, and in fact the organization surprised me, and this is not strange for our brothers in the Emirates, and I am happy to participate in the free exhibition competition, and we will be present in the next rounds of the festival."
For its part, the head of the festival's media committee, Hamda Al Shamsi, said that this year, a number of new events are organized to meet the desires of visitors, including the introduction of competitions for the first time, such as Arabic coffee and photography, and there will be valuable prizes for the winners. The festival also witnesses a number of recreational areas, such as the Liwa Promenade, the Heritage Village area, the “Liwa Land” area, and the Al Makshaat area.
