The French designer Emanuel Ungaro has passed away. He was 86 years old. Various French media and press agencies report this, including Reuters Sunday.

Ungaro withdrew from his fashion house in 2004. He has been struggling with his health for the past two years.

The designer who later became successful with his own perfumes was born in 1933 in the South of France as a child of Italian parents. In the 1950s he moved to Paris. In 1965 he launched his own label there. The haute couture women's clothing that he designed was characterized by the use of flamboyant colors and subtle design.
