A study conducted in the American city of New York showed a relationship between eating white bread and insomnia that prevents sleep, according to the British "Daily Mail" website.

The researchers attributed the study's reason to this that eating white bread that contains sugar leads to high levels of sugar in the blood to the point that the body begins to release hormones that keep us awake.

The study included more than 50 thousand women, while the study indicated that the grains in bread play a role in insomnia.

However, the study did not indicate the reason for the effect of sweets and refined carbohydrates, which include bread, cakes, pastries and pasta specifically on sleep.

But the study-based doctor said: "When blood sugar levels rise, the body reacts by secreting insulin, and low blood sugar can lead to hormones such as adrenaline and cortisol, which can interfere with sleep."
