The journalist Miguel Ángel García Juez has died Thursday at the Hospital de la Princesa de Madrid at age 71 as a result of liver cancer, as reported by the Press Association of Madrid (APM) in a statement.

Born in Madrid in 1948, García Juez dedicated more than four decades to journalism, especially radio, in which he presented several programs recognized on different stations.

He began his journalistic life as editor of the PYRESA Agency in 1975 and, subsequently, he was a contributor to Spanish Television (1977) and deputy director of the programs "Debate Europa" and "Contante y Sonante", on National Radio of Spain, between 1978 and 1981.

In 1981 he joined the founding staff of Antena 3 radio . In that station he held among other positions the editor-in-chief of the Information Services, director of the informative programs "Chronicle-3" and "Zero Hour", as well as the space "Health is what matters".

Since 1989 he directed and presented the financial program "Antena de la Bolsa" and the magazine "Long live the people of the afternoon!", The latter program for which he was awarded, in November 1989, with the Ondas Award .

In 1992 he was appointed director of the news services of the Antena 3 radio station, staying in front of the magazine "Long live the people of the afternoon!", A space that from the following year was renamed "Long live the afternoon", with the who managed to be an audience leader in his time slot. Between 1992 and 1994, he made this responsibility compatible with that attached to the General Directorate of Antena 3 .

After the disappearance of Antena 3, since December 1994 he went on to conduct a five-hour evening magazine "Viva la radio", on the radio station "Radio Voz".

In May 1996 he received the National Journalism Prize "The National Lottery in Spain", convened by the State Betting Lottery Agency, for his space "The Christmas Lottery" , issued within his space "Long live the radio".

Since September 1997 he was co-director in Antena 3 Television of the space "The Smile of the Pelican", presented by Pepe Navarro, following the line of the night space that he had maintained in Tele-5 "Tonight we crossed the Mississippi", but that was only in the grill until December of that same year.

In September 2002 he joined Onda Cero radio to present the daily night space "The compass of sport" , after the departure in April of that year of José María García, in which he remained until he took charge of the JJ sports space Santos in September 2004.

In April 2005, he joined as director of Communication to the Spanish Challenge 2007 of the Copa de América de vela, where he continued since mid-2007 as general director of Communication and Institutional Relations for the 2009 edition.

Also, he regularly collaborated in specialized information magazines and from 1998 until 2014 he directed the monthly magazine "Auctions Siglo XXI". Among other awards, it has two Waves Awards and two Gold Antennas .

He was a director of the APM from 1999 to 2011, being president of the Publications Commission, he was a life associate. The Board of Directors of the APM transmits in a statement its deepest condolences to its relatives and relatives.
