The ninth episode of the Star Wars series will be released this Wednesday, December 18, on French screens. Directed by JJ Abrams, this film will be the last in the Skywalker saga. A cinematographic event.
“ I have waited a long time […] now your rapprochement is your loss. Star Wars fans have also been waiting 42 years for this saga to end for as long as they fear it. The first three episodes told of the rise of Anakin Skywalker, a Jedi knight who passed from the dark side, becoming the terrible and dictatorial Darth Vader.
Her two children, the twins Luke and Leia, figures of the resistance, took center stage in chapters IV, V and VI, the first to go to the movies. The new trilogy which is now coming to an end focuses on the following generation: Ben, played by Adam Driver, taking the lead of the forces of evil, and his resistant side alter ego, Rey, in search of his origins.
Too predictable
Director JJ Abrams has accepted an impossible mission: to close the Skywalker arc, to satisfy both absolute fans of space opera and those who have never seen a film; marry the spectacular and the emotion. He gets there at times. Several sequences, for example in this scene of fight with the lightsaber on a wreck beaten by a Dantesque sea.
On the other hand, certain script artifices, too stereotypical or already seen in all the previous films, weaken the subject. And may disappoint and even disappoint the fans.
